12 May marked the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Seaplane Hangar of the Seaplane Harbour as a maritime museum. The Estonian Maritime Museum invited its employees and partners to a festive reception.
‘The reborn Seaplane Harbour keeps on bringing us joy. Ten years ago, we were delighted that the idea that seemed impossible was realised – we managed to create a home to save the legendary and unique submarine from destruction. Now, we can celebrate having reached the desired goal – people can visit the innovative maritime museum in the seaside area open to everyone. However, the best is yet to come – there are many projects underway to develop and expand. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us on this journey from the bottom of my heart,’ said Urmas Dresen, Director of the Estonian Maritime Museum, in his greetings to museum lovers.
Minister of Culture of the Republic of Estonia Tiit Terik, Deputy Mayor of Culture in Tallinn Kaarel Oja, and the then Minister of Culture Rein Lang attended the ceremonial reception.
Museum lovers enjoyed a unique concert dinner. Elina Nechayeva, Tanel Padar, the Band of the Estonian Defence Forces, Reket, and Tom Lilienthal and Widenski from Disco Tallinn offered the audience unforgettable experiences.
Today, on 13 May, all museum friends who bought tickets to that public event will be able to attend a similar concert-dinner. Tomorrow, on 14 May, everyone is welcome to visit the museum building with the head of the museum, Urmas Dresen, who will share stories about its opening and talk about future plans.
