Estonian Maritime Museum
The Seaplane Harbour is home to one of two permanent exhibits of the Estonian Maritime Museum, which is also regarded as one of the most impressive in Northern Europe In addition to 20th century marine technology, with the authentic Lembit submarine as its centrepiece, the museum also hosts seasonal exhibitions. The Estonian Maritime Museum’s second permanent exhibition is located at the edge of Tallinn’s Old Town in the Fat Margaret Cannon Tower. The museum underwent a major renovation in 2018–2019, and showcases the story of Estonia as a maritime nation from the Middle Ages to the present day. Exhibits include a medieval shipwreck unique in Europe and the museum’s extensive collection of ship models. It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from the Seaplane Harbour to the Fat Margaret Cannon Tower.
Kalamaja
In the immediate vicinity of the Seaplane Harbour lies the century-old Patarei Sea Fortress and the Noblessner seafront quarter, and further on the Kalamaja Creative City, with its galleries and cafés.
Nature
The Paljassaare Peninsula is a bird area of pan-European importance. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars to explore the birdwatching towers and a beach towel for a refreshing swim at the neighbouring Pikakari beach. Moreover, the State Forest Management Centre has established several exciting hiking trails and recreational areas along the coast.
