You are kindly invited to participate in a two-day international conference “Opportunities in Digital Exploration of Shipwrecks”, which will be held in Tallinn, Estonia on 22-23 October 2020.

The conference aims to highlight and explore digital technologies and tools in the context of preserving and studying the cultural heritage. In modern museums, many historical topics are brought to the museum visitors by the means of various digital aids. But are the digital methods used for research purposes profoundly different from those that are used for public outreach?

The presentations on the first day will focus on theoretical aspects and provide an overview of ongoing research in the field of digitizing shipwrecks and museum collections in general. The focus of the second day is to discuss, in a practical manner, the digital methods that have been used to research the Tallinn cog and museum artefacts, and new technologies to be used in the future.

Participation is free of charge upon registration. Please register HERE. The number of participants is limited.

The conference, except workshops, will be broadcasted online to registered participants upon request. Some presentations may be held online, if international restrictions to travel will be applied.

The event is organized by the Estonian Maritime Museum in co-operation with the Estonian War Museum.
