The Estonian Maritime Museum presented a new catalogue\nSailing Ship Models in the Estonian Maritime Museum<\/em> at a maritime\nfestival Sail Tallinn.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The catalogue\nwith parallel text in Estonian and English compiled by Feliks Gornischeff,<\/strong>\na researcher at the Maritime Museum, provides an overview of sailing ship\nmodels made by domestic and foreign masters in the collections of the Estonian\nMaritime Museum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018Ship models are\nintegral part of maritime museums and we are pleased to present this\npublication on the day when many historical sailing ships can be seen from here\nat the Maritime Museum in the Seaplane Harbour,\u2019 said Urmas Dresen<\/strong>,\nDirector of the Estonian Maritime Museum, at the Sail Tallinn maritime\nfestival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018Our largest\nexhibition of ship models is located in the new permanent exhibition of the Fat\nMargaret Tower. Some very special models can also be seen in the temporary\ndisplay of the Seaplane Harbour hangars, which talks about Estonia’s long\nconnections and achievements at the world\u2019s largest sailing training regatta,\nThe Tall Ships Races,\u2019 said Dresen. According to the museum director, children\nare welcome to once again take part in the hobby club at the Maritime Museum in\nthe autumn, where they can also try building a ship model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The catalogue is\nthe first in a series of ship models. The next catalogues will be about steam\nand motor ship models and an overview book on ship modelling can also be\nexpected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Sailing Ship\nModels in the Estonian Maritime Museum<\/em> is richly\nillustrated with photos of ship models, archive photos, and drawings. The\nforeword to the book was written by Urmas Dresen<\/strong>, the book was designed\nby Peeter Laurits<\/strong>, and the project manager was Eva-Maria Maiste<\/strong>.\nThe publication was supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The book is available in bookstores and the e-store of the Maritime Museum:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
